12-12-12 Giu Comia Birthday Concert

12-12-12 , A date that is so special to many people and has a lot of meaning and reasons. For the spiritual people, 12- apostles 12 days of Christmas, 12 months in one year, and for those who believe in horoscopes there are 12 zodiac signs.

But for me 12-12-12 is a special day because a good friend and a STAR was born on on December 12 1990: Mr. Giu Comia .

I met Giu Comia at AMA East Rizal, when they (Giu Comia & Garth Garcia) were special guests and performed during the event of “Lakan Lakambini”.

Last December 12, 2012  another remarkable event was held at the Music Museum . It was a celebration for his special day and a milestone in Giu’s life. His concert was not just a concert, but a celebration towards music, the significance of music in his life, and his journey on how he became a musician.

The concert was started by Vanessa who sang “Would You Imagine a King”, (A christmas song). Then a prayer through a song to give thanks for all the blessings, and a duet by Ms. Vanessa Paolleli and Mr. Manu Respall. Followed by the song “Through the Fire” sang by Ms. Julia De Los Santos. Then “The Climb” was sang by Ms. Carla Funelas which is a fitting song that gave essence to Giu’s ride, ups and downs in becoming an artist. After that, Ms. Jessica Connelly sang “Officially Missing You” then Ms. Rose Van Ginkel sang “Someone Like You.”

The event was hosted by Ms. Rica Paras and DJ Charlie. After the hosts introduced the birthday boy and the STAR OF THE NIGHT: MR GIU COMIA. He sang a mash-up of “Call Me Maybe” and “Don’t Stop Believing”, which were suitable songs for a “celebration towards music.

Then Ms. Stella Ignacio sang an APO Medley.

Giu Comia loves music, and loved listening to classic songs during his childhood days. He started singing when he was 15 years old, and  idolized his good friend Faye Abadicio, who was a great singer. (“Ang galing kumanta”). His second song was “Please Don’t Stop the Music, then he sang “Spend Some time with Me”, and “Lucky” with Rose.

Ms.Nadine Lustre sang “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” with Mr. Ice Mendoza. Giu shared how they met each other.  He met Nadine when they were together in a commercial for Goldilocks and Nestea, and they became close friends. Nadine and Giu sang a mash-up duet of “Payphone” and “She Will Be Loved”.

When he was with Coke, Ride to Fame, he met his musical director Mr. Carl Gueverra.  Then Giu introduced the Band: Revolution Amplified and they performed “I am Loved”. After the band performed, Giu shared his story with the audience on how he became a musician.

Quoted from Giu : “I was a bullied child before, then my mom told me to join groups, I learned how to play the guitar, then my friends and I built a band. During the battle of the bands at school; the vocalist didn’t show up, so I took over and became the vocalist that time. He sang the song “Lagi Mo Nalang Ako Dinedeadma” for his first Love.

He also shared the song that he used to sing during auditions in UST, that makes him usually pass the auditions. (“natatanggap sa auditions dahil sa kanta”) “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”. Giu’s first concert was at Teatrino in the Jazz Standards. Giu also shared his “Jazz Image” with the viewers when he sang “Me & Mrs. Jones.”

Giu Comia and Garth Garcia has been performing together for almost four years now, and had the same manager. He introduced their web series called “BoyZNextDoor(HindiKamiBoyBand”) with Garth Garcia. The web series was created by Mr. Gary Alan Hidalgo and Directed by Mr. Gino AldeguerGiu and Garth  sang “Boyfriend” one of the songs featured in their web series.

The cast of BoyzNextDoor(HindiKamiBoyband) performed “What Makes You Beautiful” with Paco Evangelista , Ice Mendoza , and Sean Manuntag.

Then after the performance of BoyzNextDoor(HindiKamiBoyband). There was a little surprise performance from the production cast, which was performed by “Lady Gagita” and the look a like of “Michael Jackson”.

After the performance of “Lady Gagita, and “Michael Jackson”, the new “Giu” (“Giu Ngayon”) was introduced. He sang his orginal songs: “Kung Di Ngayon”, “Nandito Ako” , “Pano Ba” (A song about someone you love, but the person doesn’t feel that you love the person and how would you tell the person you love him/her. ” Pano Ba ay tungkol sa mahal mo yung isang tao pero hindi niya maramdaman na mahal mo siya kaya pano mo ba sasabihin kanya na mahal mo siya.“)

Then He sang “Kung Noon Kita Nakilala” which will be one of his covers in his album that will be released early 2013. After that the hosts asked Giu if he already has someone special, he answered through the song “Haven’t Met You Yet”. After he sang “No Boundaries”, the crowd thought it was the end because Giu started to thank everyone, but it was a “False Finale”.

The night cannot end without the most wanted song in radio stations these past few months. Giu sang  his “ Bigyan Mo Na Sana”  for his “GRAND FINALE”
